Executive Summary
The paper identifies various patterns of strokes and how it effect on the family life and family relationships. Stroke is the leading cause of severe adult disability and can leave people with visible impairments as well as hidden disabilities. The effects of stroke are significant and, in most cases, extend beyond the patient. This article focuses on the effects of stroke on individual family members who provide care (for example, their emotional wellbeing and physical health), and the relationships between stroke survivors and their families (for example, family harmony and marital satisfaction). Majority of the attention has been placed to the negative effect of stroke on the family members, but there is evidence from the qualitative literature which carers of the stroke survivors experience some positive outcomes. The stroke caregivers appear to be at the risk for the depression. Majority of the care giving studies have shown that the psychological intervention have the potential for improving the caregivers' depression. Thus, the interventions for targeting the stroke patients might also yield the beneficial effects on the caregivers because of the social and psychological interventions between the caregivers and the stoke patients.

The family members might struggle for adapting towards a care-giving role, and also the relationships between the closest family members and the stroke survivors to them that are often altered by the illness. The assignment provides an overview of the effect of stoke on the family dynamics and it also identifies the intervention and therapy important for the stoke survivors and their families in this difficult time (Stineman, 2010, 550-556).
Stroke is the leading cause of severe adult disability and can leave people with visible impairments as well as hidden disabilities. These include extreme tiredness, aphasia (which makes communication hard) and cognitive difficulties affecting memory, attention and perception. These changes are often accompanied by emotional distress. Taken together these can make everyday tasks, including work, extremely difficult, if not impossible. Such major life changes can quickly impact on people's income and expenses. Financial commitments do not stop just because of illness and people are soon forced to make difficult decisions on how to economize (Spencer, 1997, ...
