Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of Education and Employment in Brazil in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on the current happenings related to the employment conditions and education standards in Brazil and their connections with each others. The research also analyzes many aspects of circumstances of Brazil and tries to gauge its effect on education and employment. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for Education and Employment in Brazil and tries to describe the overall effect of employment and education in the country along with its connections.

Introduction

Brazil was one of the first nations to officially come out of recession and a series of recent economic indicators have pointed to the fact that it is still on its way to a strong recovery. As per the latest Central Bank figures the activity economy is running at a higher pace of the world. Brazil increased its forecast for gross domestic product GDP in 2010 with the growth of 5.2% to 5.5% and some analysts have predicted that it could reach up to 6% over the year. To help the country continue on the path to recovery, the government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is prioritizing the improvement of employment and Minister Carlos Lupi said recently that up to 2.5 million new jobs could be created in the country. President Brazil states told that he has the best year and will generate 2.5 million jobs. This means that today when the world is finding it hard to leave behind the crisis there Brazil is a country that is creating more work.

But if we compare the overall condition of Brazil, we'll find that this country was having a high illiteracy rate and the unemployment rate was also higher which has given some positive signs recently few days back and is still in progress. Schools in Brazil lack resources, books etc. Buildings are in damaging conditions and in need of repairs but schools lack funds. Private schools are better off if family can afford it. Depending on socioeconomic status determines how educated one gets. 33 out of 100 students drop out of school. Sometimes schools are not available depends on geographic location. Brazilian youth have suffered a lot of un-employment. Youth un-employment was forty percent in Northeastern Brazil. Recently, youth unemployment rates were steadily increased from 9.1% in 1991, to 14.7% in 2000, and 2.1% in 2009.

Brazil is the largest nation of its continent and covers the largest area of North America. It gained independence in 1882 after 3 centuries under Portuguese rule. Monarchial government until 1888 abolished slavery. It was politically dominated by Brazilian coffee exporters until 1930 when populist leader Getulio Vargas came into power.
