Diplomatic Relations between the United States and Russia

Introduction

Economic integration and diplomatic relations are considered to be the important steps towards the diplomatic relations taken by the government authorities of any country as they play an important role in enhancing the position of the countries and maintaining prosperity in them. The United States and Russia are trying to enhance their economic relations to improve their overall strategic positions. The research study emphasizes different areas that would benefit through the economic integration among the two countries. In the past, the Cold War between the United States and Russia created hurdles in developing and maintaining economic integration between the two countries. The war for global dominance led both countries into mutual hostility. However, the present situation reflects a changed picture as the Presidents of both countries have shaken each other's hands to give way to greater economic integration between the two nation's regions. Good economic and diplomatic relationship between United States and Russia will also bring peace in the two regions which will benefit their neighboring countries as well. Trade between the United States and Russia has shown positive trends that further improves the situation between the two countries. Different investment programs have also been started by the multinational firms that have started their operations in both of the countries. Recently, the Presidents of the two countries met to enhance the economic cooperation in order to improve the bilateral relations between the United States and Russia. The two countries have also agreed to fight complex issues like corruption, terrorism, proliferation of weapons and arms and others such issues.

Problem Statement

The new era of diplomatic relationship will give rise to the regional peace. However, the increased stockpiles of weapons is one of the constraint in establishing bilateral relationships between the two countries.

Discussion

Importance of the Chosen Topic

A case study will be conducted on U.S.-Russia relations by discussing the conflicts that preceded the Cold War and then explaining the recent conflicts and the issues in which the U.S. and Russia seem to be at odds. The research study focuses on the mutual relationship between the United States and Russia that will give rise to the peace process in the two regions. The study is important in another perspective as well as the relationship between the two countries is of special importance among the researchers and political analysts.
