Development as a Lifelong Process: Gender Disorder
Development as a Lifelong Process: Gender Disorder
Introduction
In the case of Carl, it had been viewed that how the situation has effected Carl and his behaviour. Thus, sexual differentiation is a complex process, which results in a newborn baby who is either male or female. If errors in development occur, sexual development is abnormal and the sex organs of the baby are malformed. In such cases, individuals may develop both male and female characteristics. This is referred to as intersexuality.
Children born with deviations from normal development of the sex organs can be expected to grow up successfully and to lead enriched lives. Finally, it is extremely important for parents and patients to have a good understanding of both the condition of sex differentiation that affects them, as well as possible ways for dealing with the condition. With this approach, patients will be better able to lead a fulfilled life, and to look forward to an education, career, marriage, and parenthood.
Does Carl have a 'problem' that needs to be fixed? (Cross Gender)
In the case of Carl, identifying his problem and his gender disorder, he faces the problem of cross gender disability. The gender identity disorder is defined as incongruence between phenotype physical and gender identity, ie, the identification of oneself as male or female. The experience of this incongruity is called gender dysphonic. The most-extreme form, in which individuals need to adapt their phenotype with hormones and surgery to make it consistent with their gender identity, is called Transgendered. Those individuals who experience this condition are called as Tran's people, that is, Tran's men (female to male) and Trans women (Male to female).
Gender Identity Disorder
Gender identity generally follows a line, which is consistent with the phenotype the individual, however, a very small number of children experience their identity gender incongruent with their phenotype. The result in such cases in adults is varied and cannot be predicted with certainty. Only a minority of these children without phenotypic matter socialization and education, this inconsistency will persist in the old adulthood and manifest as transsexuals.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors
People with gender identity disorder may proceed and present themselves as constituents of the converse sex. The disorder may affect:
Choice of sexual partners
Deployment of manners, demeanour and dress feminine or masculine
Self-esteem
Gender identity disorder is not the identical as homosexuality.
Identity confrontations can originate in numerous positions and emerge in diverse forms. For demonstration, some persons with usual genitalia and sexual characteristics (eg, breast) one gender privately recognise more with the converse sex. Some persons can wear, and some may request sex-change operation. Others are born with ambiguous genitalia, which may lift inquiries about sex.
The origin is unidentified, but hormones in the womb, genes and ecological components (eg, education), may intervene. This uncommon infection can happen in young children and adults.
