Problem being addressed by the research

In this research paper, authors had attempted to make a comparative analysis of the quality of the services provided by Islamic banks and conventional banks in Malaysia. They had compared the quality of services of Islamic and conventional banks through quantitative analysis.

The methods researchers had used

In this research, authors had used the SERVQUAL to analyze the quality of service that was being provided by the said banks in Malaysia. Furthermore, they had added a completely new attribute to this service quality framework, i.e. convenience, including the existing five dimensions of service quality. The authors had collected data from 287 customers of these banks from two major cities of Malaysia and employed a self-reporting questionnaire for collecting data from these people. After that, researchers had used factor analysis in order to authenticate the results that had been generated by the instrument, then, they had applied dominance and gap analyses techniques on the data set.

The limitations of the research

Every research has some limitations and it is very important from the part of the researcher to report these limitations. The results of this research had supported the application of SERVQUAL model to gauge the service quality of banks; however, researchers had used a comparatively small sample as compared to the population of the research. Through minimizing the sample size of the research, they had limited the generalizability of the results that they had generated.
