Health Issue Paper: Dentistry

Introduction

For over 25 years of dental care has significantly changed gradually across different countries. Dentists worked for years doing repairs, extractions, tooth-cleaning and placed removable appliances to replace missing pieces (Holmstrom 2005). However, with the appearance of the fluoride and sealants, as well as a better understanding of the role of bacteria, the patient's needs have changed. At the same time, the amount importance given to the teeth in the face of our image in Western society has changed (Hyson, Whitehorne & Greenwood 2008). The public of American and Vietnam, for example, continues to give great importance to primary teeth as part of the exercise of mastication, but within the focus of many adults there is a major shift toward aesthetic solutions. In a few years, the functioning of society has made us see that research and developments of new materials lead to the improvement and restoration of dental and oral health, especially in cosmetic dentistry. In this paper, I explore the similarities and differences between America dentistry and Vietnam dentistry.

Dentistry in America

Dentistry in the U.S. is considered prestigious and one of the most highly paid. In 2004, for treatment and rehabilitation of the teeth took 4.5% of all medical expenses of the U.S. population, and the turnover of this market reached $ 34.8 billion.
