Introduction

Literacy refers to the ability of studying to gain knowledge and think decisively about the words. People contain the perception about literacy like a person has an educational background and hold a degree is known as a literate person. But it is significant to know that literacy covers the complex set of capabilities to understand and use the leading symbol systems of a culture for community and personal development (Literacyadviser, 2012). Why people have doubts about the connection between education, literacy and democracy? Why the world is still struggling to face the universal right. Literacy is the ability to read and write, which is the basic right of every human in the globe. But we are astonished to hear about the latest news of Malala Yousafzai, a small Pakistani schoolgirl, who was shot by a gang of militant thugs (Brown and Macfarlane, 2012). Fortunately this young girl was saved from the attack and sent to England for further treatment (Mahmood, 2012). The paper is designed to highlight the core meaning of literacy and the great tribute paid to this term by a young girl of Pakistan.

The story of Malala Yousafzai is very invoking for the generation to learn about the actual mean of literacy and its importance. This young child has brought the innovation in the boundaries of Swat valley, situated in Pakistan. Malala is famous for women's rights activism, where Taliban had banned the girls from attending school. The great activism role by this young girl has now reached to every corner of the globe.
