Introduction

The Constitution is the law outlined in the United States. It is a framework that provides the country a guideline on how to work. The powers of the President, Supreme Court and every organization of the country are mentioned in this constitution. Every organization is assumed to act in the best interest of the country and in the best possible manner. This paper will talk about the three main principles, the amendments and the role of the three institutions in the government.

The people of the United States prefer the republican government over other forms of government. They prefer this form of government because the republican government is limited. This means that the powers of the government are limited and the government can exercise them in certain situations. Another reason why this form of government is preferred is because it is representational. The government can exercise their power over the citizens only when the citizens are represented by the legislative assemblies.

Three Significant Elements

The constitution consists of three main elements outlined as follows:

The first basic principle outlined in the constitution is the principle of popular sovereignty. This principle affirms that people are the means of government power, and the government can exists and work only when it has the mandate of the people and the consent of the government.

The second principle is the principle of limited government. According to this principle, the government's power is only restricted to its own actions and has no right to to take the away the rights of the individuals of the country.

The third principle outlines the three different institutions of the country and states that these three institutions have separate powers. These three institutions include executive, legislative and judicial branches of the government. These three branches are known as the coequal branches of the government.

Explanation of the Three Principles

The three branches outlined in the constitution are separate branches none of them should interfere in each other's work or actions. One way of refraining from interfering in each other's work is by implementing the check and balance system. This will help them to gauge the performance of each other and will also help from restraining the actions of one another.

The judicial review principle is the power of the court which determines the constitutionality of the governmental action.

A system of government is known as federalism which means that the powers of the government are divided between the central government and the various local governments.

There are three main institutions in the government, namely, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the presidency. The government is elected by the vote of the people and these three institutions are then elected by the members of the elected party.
