Consequences of Knowledge Absence in Organisational Leadership
Introduction
There are many organisational theorists that agree upon a point that leadership efficacy is one of the most important parts to the success of an organisation. There are still many people who are unaware of organisational leadership importance (Yukl, 2002). Leadership is a process in which an individual exercises social influence on others so that he or she can get their support in the completion of a common assignment. It is so true that an organisational mission cannot be accomplished by a single individual, it certainly requires team work. Leadership is based on interpersonal and social processes without which nothing is possible. In this complex world one cannot manage all the activities alone as there are certain critical tasks that require brainstorming and group efforts. Quality team work is only possible, if the leadership is managed and maintained effectively (Yukl, 2002). This research paper is based on highlighting the importance of organisational leadership within an organisation and providing the contemporary perspectives and approaches to ethical & cultural, personal & individual, transitional and transformational and strategic & tactical leadership.
Leadership in an organisation is not just meeting the organisational goals but to be together when ever required. Organisational leadership is in the hands of top management, if they are competent and focused to their tasks and duties they will be able to manage middle and lower management in attaining an overall organisational mission and ultimately vision.
