According to the research findings, there are usually five types of conflicts, which could be found in IT project in any company. These conflicts are,
Interest-based Conflicts
The interest based conflicts is one of the most commonly types of conflicts in any project. These conflicts arise because of the clash of interest of two parties in a project; the parties which are involved in the project always try to protect their interests. In the meantime, one or both of the parties start conflict by acting in a way that is unacceptable for the other party. This is called “Conflict of Interest”. This type of conflict usually arises, when the project is not defined properly and the parties, which are involved in the conflict, do not share their interest with each other. This lack of communication develops this conflict of interest.
Structural Conflicts
This type of conflict usually arises when there is a conflict in between the parties over the definition of authority and distribution of power among the people, who are involved in the project. The parties who are involved in the conflict have their reservations towards the authority of the people, who are involved with the project in one or the other. Both the parties want control over the project so that they can make sure that they do not suffer losses in the project.
Conflict of Values
Every company has different values towards different things, based on different environmental factors. The people who are handling the project may have different perceptions about handling a particular task in the project, and this difference in opinion may develop conflict in between the two parties. Both of the parties develop a completely different view of analyzing things.
Conflicts of Relations
Another common type of conflict, which can be seen in a project, especially in an IT project, is the conflict in the relationship. The reason behind this is the fact that, the IT projects require heavy investment. The parties involved in the project want to make sure that they do not suffer loss. This can sometimes lead to a lack of communication between the two parties, and this lack of communication can lead to severe ties between the two parties.
Conflicts of Information
The conflict on the information is usually developed in a IT project, whenever there is a lack of communication between the parties that are involved in the project. This can create a situation where the two parties would have different information about the different aspects of the project, and this contrasting information would lead to a conflict of information between the two parties.
