Introduction

Cholesterol is a lipid (fat), which is mainly produced in the liver and is essential for normal body functioning. Cholesterol is present in the outer layer (plasma membrane) of each cell of body and has many functions. It is a waxy steroid and is transported in the blood plasma. This is the main sterol synthesized by human beings, but small amounts are also synthesized in plants and fungi. High cholesterol levels can double the risk of heart disease. This research examines the impact of age on cholesterol level among women. It examines the implication of age group on high cholesterol level in women.

Research Objective

This research aims at exploring two fundamental questions related to cholesterol level formation and age factor of women. These questions set the basis of analysis in this research.

Are women over forty more likely to have high cholesterol?

Is there any relationship between age of women and cholesterol level?

Hypotheses

H10: There is no statistically significant difference between cholesterol levels of women having age more than 40 years and women who are less than 40 years.

H1a: There is statistically significant difference between cholesterol levels of women having age more than 40 years and women who are less than 40 years.

H20: There is no statistically significant relationship between age of women and cholesterol level.

H2a: There is a statistically significant relationship between age of women and cholesterol level.

Statistical Testing and Analysis of Results

Table presented shows the measures of central tendency for the 'age of women participants' and 'cholesterol level'. This table shows the overall picture of the data set. The numerical descriptive measures are calculated from the sample that summarizes the information contained therein. There were 40 female participants who were included in the study. Average age of female participants included in the study is 33.22 years. Standard deviation of the results stood at 12.45, which shows considerable proportion of variance in the age level of women. Table presented below highlights descriptive statistics of the variable “age of women” included in the analysis.

A considerable gap has been observed in the standard deviation value which moved to 185 for the cholesterol level across all age groups. If we ignore the lower end implication of the value, it shows that average cholesterol level of women can be increased greatly up to 425mg. This provides a consolidated potential of the research to improvise the results by further conducting researches in the domain. Average cholesterol level of participants included in the research stood at 240.88mg.
