Introduction

For my dissertation in this program, I decided to choose a topic related to children. I am going to research different papers related to parenting and behavior of children. Parenting has a deep impact on the behavior of the children. I will go through different study articles, and try to find out the key links between parenting and behavior of children. This study will be helpful for others as well.

Article 1

Chang (2003) conducted a research on the Harsh Parenting in Relation to Child Emotion Regulation and Aggression.

Comparison of Studies

The major difference between the two studies is that Benjamin studies the affects based on the descriptive research, whereas, Chang's study comprised of the treatment groups of children who were given harsh treatment and the others whose childhood remained comparatively pleasant, as compared to Benjamin, change focused specifically on the emotional disturbance among children.

Method

Characteristics of the subjects

The chosen subjects are the school going students who were found to be inactive in the extracurricular activities. The other group comprised on the students who were bright students but they remained mostly shy.

The research used interview design

What did participant do?

the subjects responded to the interview questions about their family and friends and the interpreter coded analyzed these responses with the normal behavior of children in terms of their social activities and environment.

Results

This research shows that parents who treat their young ones harshly all the time, their children demonstrate negative behavior most of the time. They remained fearful and shy.

Discussion

Implication of Research

The research is important in sociology as it answers the questions related to children's behavior and psychology. It further suggests the need of identifying the factors for which parent's behavior is harsh with children.

Crenshaw (2005) conducted a research on the issue of understanding and treating the aggression of children as a result of harsh parenting. He identified the self image facto among parents that leads to behave rudely with children. Because of parents unrealistic expectation with children are often under pressure.



Comparison of Studies

The difference among the studies is that the focus of Crenshaw research was on parents' behavior that leads to aggression among children. He carried out survey research to diagnose the connection between the parents aggression among children.
