Abstract

This report reviews the hazard and ways to reduce the consequences related to childhood obesity. Obesity among children is observed a gradually increasing global issue. Choices available for children are highly influenced by their environment that affects directly their diet and physical activity habits (Bessesen, 2008).

Introduction

The Global ratio of overweight children falling under the age criteria of five, in the year 2010 is 42 million (WHO, 2012). In 21st century, childhood obesity is one of the serious concerns and a challenge for public health organizations. Since in majority cases, a child if he is obese in the age of 5 then there is a fair probability that it will prevail in his adulthood as well. In order to curtail, the prior mentioned issue awareness is created among parents by nutritionist and doctors. The similar activities can be witnessed at school and play group levels regarding food consumption guide for children. Increase in awareness will lead to a prominent decrease in diseases such as diabetes and heart related diseases. These diseases can even cause disability and in some cases might lead to premature death.

Children's choice is influenced by its surrounding, especially his diet and physical activities.
