Introduction

One of the most influential powers influencing the varying nature of work and the work force is demographics, the changing sharing of the work force along a number of important dimensions. The work force of 2012 will be significantly different than it is in 2005, but the features of workers today are already very diverse from what most of us think they are. And basic demographic changes in the beliefs, characteristics, expectations and values of millions of workers in all practical areas will need frequently basic changes in the way those persons and teams are managed. To be more explicit, in 1975 there were around 4M live births in the US. Nowadays, those persons are 40 years old, and at height of their corporate careers. Just 10 years later, in 1975, there were only 3.1M births (in the US); those persons are just 30 today but will be in their mid-30's in 2011. That is a drop of 28% in the largest supply of the labor pool in just 10 years. And that denotes that capable workers will be short supply and therefore extremely demanding for the years to come.

Workforce demographics are the geometric profiles of mature workers. Workforce demographic are an precious HR planning support. They allow managers to expect and regulate for shortages or surpluses of suitably skilled people. For instance, the ageing and decline of Europe's citizens will see the number of people of working age fall by 5.0% in the next twent-five years. According to António Vitorino, the European Union's (EU's) commissioner for justice and home affairs, this situation implies that 'we should review the longer term needs of the EU as a whole, estimating how far these can be met from existing resources, and defining a policy for the admission of third country nationals to meet whatever shortage remains'. Moreover, general population demographics give managers a preview of the values and motives of future employees. This paper explores three demographic changes that are creating an increasingly diverse workforce:

racial minorities in the European labour force

the workforce is ageing.

females keep on going into the workforce in higher numbers

Another significant tendency that is happening, both in the USA and internationally, is the demographic change in the workforce. The global inhabitants are aging fast and getting more racially dissimilar. One of the propositions of such demographic changes is that organizational researchers will probablly dedicate much more attention and time to get knowledge of the changing demographics of today's workforce .
