Introduction

Demographic changes have great impact on number of sectors. Demography population is referred in terms of size, and undergoes a change, and the manner of occurrence of this change is either by increasing the birth rate or death or emigration. Studying this science dividing the population into groups of several sub groups with respect to Gender, Labor and the marital status and evaluate what else is reason of the changes.

In addition, this knowledge includes more variables of fertility and death, age, gender, such as marriage, divorce, family size, race, illiteracy and unemployment and the distribution of wealth and the distribution of occupations, population density and migration (Weber, 2010, 58).

Demography Change and Retail

In the retail industry, business is influenced by demographic changes. As a result of these changes, changing consumer tastes, and it creates a demand for certain products. Retailers around the world continue to closely monitor these changes, and they are trying to rebuild his business in a timely manner in connection with these changes.

Retailers need to consider demographic factors and lifestyle in several ways. Consumer groups and individual customers can be identified by such demographic characteristics as gender, age, growth (population), life expectancy, literacy, language, family size, marital status and number of children, income level, the volume of retail purchases, mobility, place of residence, employment, occupation, education level and the national or racial affiliation. These characteristics have a significant impact on how people make retail purchases, as well as the actions of the retailers. The retailer must have some idea about the general demographic trends, as well as the demographic characteristics of their target market. This is considered as useful information that can serve as a starting point for retailers, since most firms are inherently local and regional (Meredith, 2002, 412).

This concept is for retailers to become increasingly important. In the past, there were pronounced types of the buyers who comply with their general demographic characteristics and lifestyle. Now gained recognition point of view is that consumer behavior is less predictable and more individually. It depends more on the situation, hence the ambiguity of the notion of lifestyle. By means any retail activity on the sale of goods or services is directly linked to consumers for their personal, noncommercial use.

Under current conditions, new forms of retailing are introduced such as specialty shops, selling at a discount from the price, and consolidated trading. Demographic changes have led to fragmentation of the market as in consumers prefer the brand and a large selection of specialty stores. In this connection there is a specialized retail, where stores offer a limited number of product ranges, with greater depth.
