Change management in the successful implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning

Introduction

Change management is very essential for any organization to have, and to maintain it properly. Change management is the managing the employees within the organization. It is changing the shifts of management from the current position and department. Understanding the need for change in organizations is critically important for the whole management team. Managing change is not an easy task, but its effective implementation depends on the co-ordination of the team members and all members need to realize the goal and objective of this change and align their tasks accordingly (Bordia 2004, pp. 12-15). According to the definition of Kotler, change management is the maximum utilization of resources, by rotating the employees with the organization. Organizations face significant changes in the environment of the business with the changes in information technology, highly competitive firms in the industry, and focus on quality and customer services.

Aim and Focus of the study

The aim of the change management is to minimize the change impacts on workers and avoid distractions. The aim of this study is also the same, it will find out the importance of change management in the successful implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning. The study focuses on the employee's attitude which forces the organization to adopt the change management (Dowson 2003, pp. 21-24). Any organizational changes' success is dependent on the attitudes of the employees. Employee attitude is considered as an indicator of the success of any organizational change. As changes require the learning of new talents and attitudes, it requires an effort from employees. For the purpose of using their skills for organizational change, employers should motivate them to keep their pace of working at a higher level in the organization (Worley 2001, pp. 32-35). The strength of the attitude varies for each employee due to the relation of the attitude with each employee's own deeply held philosophical and political values and these are common concerns of the employee's social group.
