Businesses in International Market

Background

The paper discusses the acquisition of two giant corporations Unilever and Hellmann, and the best food. Both the companies are working successfully in the international market they have expended their businesses not only in the European and American market but also well captured the global consumers. Being the fast moving consuming goods company they have well identified the concept of merger and took full advantage of this opportunity. There are many chances of merger failures that have been seen historically, but in the case of Unilever and Hellmann, and the best food they have set an example of great efforts and dedication for the company. The companies bond into the international merger. Both the companies are working in a profit environment with mutual understanding. An acquisition involving two firms with different origin will generate a higher extent of uncertainty as compared to an acquisition concerning two firms from the same country. The acquired firm needs to understand the intentions and the philosophy of the acquiring firm, while the acquiring firm has to understand the local workforce, work conditions, as well as the national and organizational culture. During the acquisition process, managers are confronted with a wide range of organizational issues that need to be solved in order to achieve a successful acquisition deal (Ravenscraft 1989 85). The critical aspect is related to the post- acquisition integration process and especially the integration of cultural characteristics.
