Donald Trump has strong beliefs about almost everything. The beliefs may be influenced by facts, emotions, assumptions, opinions, or bias. Which of these do you think is the most important factor shaping Mr. Trump's beliefs? Explain your reasoning.
Beliefs can be defined as the assumptions that an individual makes, not only about him or herself but also about others in the world. Hence it moulds are perceptions, values and expectations. Donald John Trump, the chairman and president of the Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts has been a legendary American iconic business man. From real estate to entertainment, Donald Trump has successfully earned a spot for himself in the Forbes Celebrity List of 2011. Being in the position that he is in now, it is safe to say that Mr. Trump's beliefs are guided by not only his assumptions or opinions but instead it stems from hard core facts molding our society. It is the decisions based on these facts that have led him to tremendous success within such a short period of time.
We know that people use facts differently in discussions about making decisions. What is the best use of a fact? What is its worst use?
To believe in something is not the same as knowing something. Facts are the intrinsic, genuine piece of hard core evidence of the likelihood that an action or an event actually took place. The best use of facts is when we take important decisions in life or in business. Here one should make sure that they scrutinize and evaluate even the minutest piece of information handed over to them and then move on towards making a logical, well-informed decision based on our evaluation and interpretation of facts that have been presented to us. The worst use of fact would be that within the context of religion. Since religion is purely based on our beliefs, leaving little or no room for facts, thus an individual trying to mix facts with religion would usually end up in wasting his or her time.
We can argue that it is more important to distinguish among facts and beliefs in the post-American world than it was previously. Do you agree? Explain your reasoning.
The book “Post American World” by Zakaria is based on her belief that USA continues to remain one of the most powerful nation in the world, however its power has relatively diminished. She believes that the international organizations are not really adapting to the emerging challenges of the world and are instead wasting a lot of time on general issues such as terrorism or market failures. To a certain extent, the book is based on one individual's perception of the real world and her interpretations of the facts. However, when reading the book one must be aware that this book involves facts that have been validated by her own reasoning and beliefs.
