Introduction

The reason of this study is to contrast and compare the individual characteristics of Stella and Blanche DuBois in Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire. Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, set in the Elysian Fields locality of New Orleans, undoes to the sound of a tinny piano playing Negro blues melodies, melodies that as asserted by the scribe "expresses the essence of the life that proceeds on here" (Branley, 68).
