Biography of Beethoven

Introduction

German composer Beethoven was born into a family of artistic traditions and it was during his time that music was attributed to romance. This paper will critically examine Beethoven's musical contributions and gauge the extent to which his works contributed to development of music. His musical excellence can is so immerse that the great conductors such as Toscanini, Rostropovich, Von Karajan and Barenboim, among others, have considered a challenge to play Beethoven masterfully.

Discussion and Analysis

His childhood was sad and sick, dedicated to the study of music. When he was eight years old gave, he had his first concert in Cologne, which he did when he was on a short trip to Holland. His earlier training was rather disorganized (Schlosser, 1996). A few of his father's friends informally trained him. He first took on the works of Bach and Handel.At the age of 12, he was recognized as a great performer with a great mastery in both piano and the organ. He began playing viola in the orchestra of the archduke (Burnham,2000). He was helped by his teacher and some aristocratic characters, and then he was able to travel to Vienna in 1787, where legend has it that he played for Mozart, undisputed genius of the moment, who, astonished by his work remarked: "Look at this man, You have to fill the post of head of household, working for five years, devoting any spare time to study and composition. After the death of his father, he settled in Vienna (1792), where he finds his true and great masters and focuses on the composition, but sometimes acts as a concert (Vincent,1970). His fame expanded wide, and his success began to soar. Bettina Brentano, a poet since 20 years, met Ludwig in 1810 and introduced him to Goethe Toplitz. Beethoven lived a stable situation from this point of view, as critics named him to be the successor to Mozart. He started the composition of symphonies and began showing interest in spiritual songs. He devoted the third symphony to Napoleon, a victorious warrior and presented a tenacious dedication when he learned of his coronation as the emperor(Vincent,1970). In 1808 he composed his masterly "Fifth Symphony" and in 1823, the "Ninth", which premiered the following year.

Production is traditionally divided into three stages Beethoven. The first one was experienced under the influence of Haydn than Mozart, though he lacked his individual style in representing works such as "Sonata pathetic". The second, was full of the most beautiful examples of artistic maturity. From "Third Symphony" to "Ninth", namely the "Trio in B major," the "Kreutzer Sonata", the "Quartet" and "Fidelio," were attempts to create a truly German opera, and "The Battle of Vitoria", was a work of the prevailing circumstances of the time, indicating it was a resounding success when played at the Congress of Vienna.
