Statistics is the technical application of mathematical values to the assemblage, investigation, and production of numerical data. Statisticians request their mathematical and statistical knowledge to the design of reviews and trials; the assemblage, processing, and investigation of facts and figures; and the understanding of trials and survey results. Opinion polls, statements about the correctness of scales and other assessing apparatus, and information about mean profits in an occupation are all generally the work of statisticians.
