Introduction

Attachment theory is the strongest theoretical influence in modern-day studies of infant-parent relationships. John Bowlby was the first exponent of the theory. He brought to bear as a very original mind and an interdisciplinary approach to the study of children and their emotional development. Intellectual flowering of his work was the main language that is now called "attachment theory" (George, Solomon, 1999).

Bowlby's thinking has its roots in psychoanalytic thought, particularly in the emphasis on the importance of early relationship between parent and child figure. However, he adds an important evolutionary and ethological concepts. In his opinion, the propensity to make strong emotional bonds to a particular individual is the basic component of human nature, already present in embryonic form in infants (Bowlby 1988: 3). Under the influence of Freud and Darwin, Bowlby explains that the root of the human person lies in early childhood relationships. He explains why the Department of Child educator should cause so much trouble. He explains why the distress caused by this separation does not stop immediately contact was restored. It also explains why a significant setback or injury in these relationships can constantly shape the child's development(George, Solomon, 1999).

Discussion

Bowlby introduced several concepts from ethological theory, which brings the evolutionary concepts to bear on the study of behavior. He suggested that human evolution has led to the birth of the child's repertoire is built in instinctive behavior such as crying, smiling or making eye contact, which is a figure from the other parent. In addition, a parent figure is equipped with an instinctive behavior in relation to the child, for example, responding to a crying baby. Together, these instinctive patterns result in a figure of parent and child together in a complex chain of stimulus and response, which cause the child form of specific attachment to a parent figure (George, Solomon, 1999). Main provisions of attachment theory have been summarized (Wilson K et al, forthcoming: 29) are as follows.

First, an intimate emotional connection between people has primary status and biological role. Secondly, the way a child is considered a potential impact on the growth of the child, then the functioning of the individual. Third, the attachment behavior should be considered as part of an organizational system that uses an "internal working model (s)" to themselves and others to guide expectations and planning behaviors. Fourth, although the attachment behavior resistant to change, that remains an opportunity for change. This means that even once a person's life impervious to adversity or beneficial effects(George, Solomon, 1999).
