Learning Team Consultant Scenario Team A has chosen to showcase its member's skills by entering the consulting industry. Despite the fact that thousands of consulting organizations with thousands of specialties exist in today's market, Team A believes that the skills offered will be particularly valuable to those organizations in need of reengineering internal processes to maximize productivity. As a result of identifying this need in the workplace, Team A has organized a consulting organization that will be called Nextgen, conveying the perspective of the next generation in process reengineering.(Burrill,1999)
Discussion
Entering the consulting and professional services industry will not be without challenges. A difficult part of business is the necessity of constantly reducing costs, which often translates into eliminating employees. Consulting firms are sometimes asked to help clients determine whether or not the client's labor expenses are in line with competitors, and, if not, where a company needs to "downsize" in order to make the company more profitable. Determining whether a business strategy such as merging or acquiring another company to either grow an existing industry or expand into related fields can be challenging as well. The biggest question a NexTgen customer will mostly pose is how do we distinguish ourselves from the rest of the competitors in the field? It would be the task of NexTgen to help its customers create a competitive advantage that can be exploited and sustained.(Leimbach, 2005).
NexTgen will be organized to help bring a rational, third party perspective of organizations needing to make serious improvements to their operations to maintain or improve market share in a very competitive global economy. NexTgen will offer four core services. These include business process reengineering focusing on the Lean methodology, technology consulting which would include implementation, optimization, and migration services, and education and training.(University of Texas, 2002). A key component that will contribute to the success of NexTgen is its staff.
Ramon Williams As senior director of NexTGen Consulting, a number of undergraduate courses contributed to the preparation of the final pitch to the potential investors. In particular, Public Relations provided the inherent core concepts necessary for the successful launch of this venture. The course instructs on media relations, promotion, publicity, and overall customer satisfaction.(Burrill,1999)
The role of public relations in an organization varies, especially when advertising is involved. For instance, in an article entitled Knowing when youll need a PR? defines public relations as identifying, creating, and maintaining a beneficial relationship between a company and its public (Bunn.1998). An organization must identify with its employees, customers, members, shareholders, local communities, and society in general to achieve their set goals. In other words, public relations helps an organization understand what is wanted and what things the organization can offer to the public.
