Assessment Part 2 - An Analysis Of My Cognitive Behavioural Counselling Skills
Introduction
The paper involves analysis of some of the good aspects of CBT criteria. It focuses on my ability to critically reflect on the skills they have demonstrated according to some of the CBT criteria's such as good therapeutic skills, agenda setting for the session, homework Review and/ or homework setting, summarizing and two-way feedback, agenda setting for the session, homework Review and/ or homework setting, summarizing and two-way feedback, use of guided discovery and collaboration, identifying and /or modifying cognitions, identifying and/or modifying behaviours and using and/or developing a formulation. The term cognitive-behavioural therapy is the term encompassing the cognitive theory in relation with the consistency of behavioural therapy, and clinical application of cognitive psychology and behavioural psychology. In broad terms, it is the way to explore the perception of oneself through the general order of the world. Followed with this definition the CBT talks about, how the behaviour of an individual gets affected through the thoughts and the emotions embedded within their cognition.
Evaluation
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
The following section critically reflects the student's skills of evaluating the aspects of significant cognitive behavioural therapy. CBT conducted by me through various techniques and strategies. Scientists argue that individuals will respond to the environment situations through their cognition. The inherent cognition is the basic motivator of the reaction to the situation. For example, a male child is always taught to be dominant is the developing society, therefore, when he develops into adult; he has the inherent cognition that he has the supremacy over females and others in the household (Khalatbari, Ghorbanshirodi, Akhshabi, Hamzehpour & esmaeilpour, 2011). Further to this, in clinical representations, the cancer patients know that he is going to die sooner or later, therefore; he can either take it negatively letting his cognition eat away the rest of his life, or he can take it positively and live the rest of life with energy and zeal. Sometime theses cognition has to be developed through the behavioural therapies and techniques so that the person cannot indulge into the negative consequences. Although, the CBT has its roots within the effective interventions of the rigid approach of psychotherapy, but when it is employed optimally, it is regarded as practical and flexible procedure that may be personalized to the requirement and the needs of each patient.
Good Therapeutic Relationship
Good therapeutic relationship is important for any cognitive, behavioural therapy session. This relationship building depends on how the client is feeling e.g. body language, tone of voice, what is not being said. In the session, an empathic relationship has been demonstrated by me as a counsellor because the client feels stress ahead of her practical driving test.
Agenda Setting of the Session
Agenda has been set at the start of session. The agenda is based on client's cognitive, behavioural therapy for his ...
