Summary of the Article
One of the main dimensions of effective leadership entails motivating and reinforcing of other's performance for the encouragement of superior performance. The researcher argues that both non-financial and financial resources can be proven effective for the stated purpose. The research under evaluation address a confounding problem and growing concern for present day's organisation is troublesome turnover of the human and financial capital. More interestingly, it has been indicated in the research that most of the individuals are turning away from the professions including marketing, sales, customer services and information technology. The most drastic aftermath or the impact of downsizing or what many call rightsizing reduces the loyalty among employees. Kyle Luthans in this study cite the report of workforce commitment index (WCI) which reveals a substantial drop in the commitment of employees noted during the years of 1995 - 1998. Increase turnover of employees is not good for the health of the company, because every time an experienced employee left for or turns to competitor, the affected company is sent dropped to the position similar to the past month. Realising the issue of employee turn over, this paper aim to identify how non-financial resources can be used as elements to increase the motivation level among employees. Narrowing down the scope, the researcher in this study has used attention and recognition as the major non-financial resources to reward employees. This according to the writer is a key and effective leadership tool.
