How Arthritis Affects My Day-to-Day Life

Problem Statement

This essay is about the day-to-day difficulties I am facing due to sever osteoarthritis. As I was injured my left shoulder, when I was on the job and later on osteoarthritis developed in that shoulder. Due to this reason, I have developed problems with my lower back and neck. I cannot lift over 10 lbs. I cannot reach anything over shoulder height. This disability has affected my daily activities, such as showering, driving, shopping, personal care etc. I have difficulty getting dressed, using the lavatory etc. This essay would tell description of my problem and would tell the possible management of osteoarthritis.

Introduction of My Disease

Osteoarthritis is a clinical syndrome and is related to joint pain; it causes varying degrees of disabilities, functional limitations, and low quality of life. It is the main cause of disability worldwide. Knees, back, neck, hips, and hand joints are usually involved.

Why I Got The Disease After Injury At Shoulder?

As osteoarthritis is an active repair process that occurs in all joints and involves loss of cartilage from the particular site and then remodeling of adjacent bone occurs. Joint traumas may stimulate this repair process. Osteoarthritis is an efficient repair process that compensates for the injury, and produces symptom-free joint. In some people,( just like me) due to compromised repair potential, the joint cannot be repaired, produces joint damage and presents as painful osteoarthritis.

Why I Have Restricted Movements At Shoulder, Neck, And Back?

Because, there are many patterns of osteoarthritis that are seen in people such as:
