Introduction
It is already difficult for children to integrate into a group of friends, understand their school work and not to disappoint their parents. Therefore, when a learning disability, it can give the impression of being an insurmountable obstacle. However, the DA is much more common than you might think. It affects ten percent of US. Early detection increases the chance of overcoming a DA. In fact, well known personalities, for example, actors and innovative thinkers, have overcome the challenges they posed a learning difficulty and succeeded in life. (Gearheart, B.R.1981)
Detect a learning disability
AD affects how to receive, organize, remember and understand all types of information. It can be difficult to diagnose, especially due to the fact that the way to learn and the pace of understanding are different for each child.
Early detection gives it a better chance of overcoming obstacles. The visual difficulties affect how the brain translates what the eyes see. Remember faces, words, names or reverse the order of a word or number (e.g. 41 become 14), are symptoms. Hearing impairment, for example, forget what someone says or simple instructions are frequent signs of AD. A blurring of sounds and words like (e.g., beautiful and shovel) could signal difficulties in this area. Motor difficulties, which affect both the eye-hand coordination (e.g., writing) that control muscles, can cause clumsiness and difficulty in physical activities. Organizational problems make it difficult to manage time, space and sequence. (Johnson, S.W., and R.L.1980)
Being late or too early or cannot follow the steps in performing a task (e.g., clothing) could become a cause for concern. Conceptual problems that hinder the understanding of abstract concepts, the intricacies of the language, the consequences of their actions, and indices in social interactions, could also signal a DA. Children affected by conceptual problems might not notice the facial expressions or body language, seeing only one aspect of a complex situation and an absence of social skills (they are unable to make eye contact and they use a tone of voice and body language, or inappropriate). In children, there are important steps you can see if their development is progressing normally or not. Those with AD may not achieve some of these milestones. (Lerner, J. 1981)
The preschool children
Children who learn to speak later, which continue to speak like babies who have difficulty understanding instructions and who cannot control their behavior may be at risk of AD. The difficulty jump and catch a ball or ...
