Results

The following results were obtained after interviewing 14 employees at Plan Personnel, a local home care organisation:

Q. 1. What is your gender?

The results show that out of the 14 participants, only one participant is male while others are female. This shows that majority of the staff at Plan Personnel are females.

Q.2. How long have you worked for Plan Personnel?

The results show that majority 8 employees have been working in this Organisation for more than 3 years, 3 have served the organisation a duration of around 1 to 3 years, 2 participants have been in this organisation for just 6 to 12 months and only 1 participant have been here for less than 6 months. This increases the validity of the research as majority of the participants have spend a good amount of time in the organisation, so the data that will be obtained regarding job satisfaction and retention will be reliable.

10 out of the 14 participants have worked in a home care organisation before working at Plan Personnel. So it can be said that these 10 employees have interest in this particular work field. They like this job and thus have been working in this field for a long time. Out of the remaining 4 participants, the 3 participants said that this is their first job and they have not worked anywhere previously. The remaining participant said that he had been working at a departmental store.

In this particular question the participants were allowed to select as many options as they want so as to identify all the reasons for choosing this particular industry. From the results, the majority of the participants said that they love to help the elderly people and this is the reason they have been working in the care industry. The next best reason for them to join this industry is that they want to have a change in their life. By change it means they want to leave the worldly things and serve and take care of the elderly people. Some also said that the job involved good communication skills and that is why they joined the care industry. While some also said that they joined this industry because they want to challenge themselves and want to learn how to care for people.
