Introduction

This research paper focuses on the ethical code of conduct in the acute care hospital for which South Texas Health System has been taken. This acute care hospital holds a network of six acute care hospitals and one behavioral health hospital. The network of South Texas Health System provides intensive care to their patients all over the South Texas. All the acute care hospitals associated with South Texas Health System are accredited by the Joint Commission and deliver an inclusive and broad range of health services that includes surgical care, cardiovascular, emergency and, along with specialty programs in transplant, maternity and women's health, neuroscience, stroke, chest pain, bariatric, asthma, pediatrics, diabetes, wound care and rehabilitation (South Texas Health System, n.d.). However, throughout the paper, ethical code of conduct for the South Texas Health System will be discussed in detail.

Background of the Facility

An acute care hospital refers to a healthcare facility that delivers its acute care services to its patients for limiter period of time in order to treat or make a diagnosis for short term illness or an injury. Services of the acute care hospitals contain surgical and medical inpatient services and moreover outpatient investigative or diagnostic services (Randy, 2006). Furthermore, such acute care hospitals are also involved in offering patients pediatric and obstetric services; they may also include ambulatory and emergency operation departments. Some of the acute care hospitals are considered as specialty hospitals because they tend to offer their services for limited diagnosis, such as cardiac care hospitals and children's care hospitals.

Considering the ethical code of conduct in the acute care settings, following are some of the responsibilities of the management and the professional staff of the hospital. It is committed to all those who work in the South Texas Health System.  All decisions and actions must be in adherence to the values ??which are then broken down according to the level of management and commence.
