“The Money Changers” by Upton Sinclair
Introduction
“The Money Changers” by Upton Sinclair was published in 1908, soon after the jolts 0f 1907, author, however, received most applauses for his book 'The Jungle'. This book of his by no means had a lesser impact than of the jungle; this book is still relevant even after the one hundred years. The Financial crises that the world witness in 2008 reminded the world of Upton Sinclair and his book “The Money Changers”. This book held a number of similarities as witnessed by the whole world in the recent jolts of 2008 relating to Wall Street and financial sector in general.
Upton Sinclair wrote numerous books belonging to different genres, and because of his talent to bring the issues relating to public to the limelight, he was once considered for the post of governor. He dedicated his ability to write and document for the well being of the masses as he majorly discussed issues relating to socio-economic conditions of that time. He was also very critical of the injustices which existed in the society at that time and still tend to exist. In his view capitalism is the culprit for the prevailing poverty in the world, although he received the most number of applauses in the second half of the twentieth century. The structure of this paper will be in the way which would stretch from the characters involved, manipulation and the original scenario along with my interpretation of the book (Jon, p.131).
