Abstract

In this paper, we have discussed when, why, and how the first settlers migrated to the Americas from Asia. The first settlers who migrated from Asia to Americas appeared here in America around 30,000 B.C. The settlers whom migrated from Asia to present day America are known as Paleo-Indians. They've migrated to America for a simple reason, which is survival. They traveled from Asia all the way to America because they followed their food source. Wherever the animals traveled, the Indians were there as well. Otherwise if the Indians hadn't followed they would've become extinct before their time came. The Indians traveled on foot along the Bering Strait, which is the natural bridge that was formed once the land masses were exposed to a dramatic sea level drop, during the Ice Age. Therefore, the first settlers who migrated to the Americas were Paleo-Indians just maintaining needs for survival.

First Settlers migrated to America from Asia

Introduction

The people Paleo-Indians are also called as Paleo-Americans; they were the earliest people of America. Paleo Indians are considered to be the first settlers, migrated America from Asia. The questions arises that where did these Indians come from? This think is not exactly sure, from where they came from but theories and written material have it that the Paleo-Indians traveled from Asia to America by foot. They usually traveled in groups of 20 to 50 members, usually members of an extended family. The Paleo-Indians/Americans are said to be nomadic hunters-gatherers, their lifestyle was pretty simple. They would usually camp, where the preys they were hunting, therefore the Paleo-Indians were somewhat of a nonstop migrating race.

The people, who migrated to America from Asia, were having the ability and have the knowledge of clothing, if they have no knowledge that it would be difficult for them to survive, because when they travel to America the season is winter, the weather is too cold in winter, that no one survive without clothing.

Discussion

When did the first settlers migrate from Asia to the Americas exactly? How many migrated to the Americas? No one's really sure of when they exactly started migration towards America. Paleo-Indians are said to be the first ones here, therefore archaeologists estimated that migration from Asia began about 30,000 B.C. Some archaeologists say that there was only a wave of Paleo-Indians who migrated, but others say that there were up to 4 waves of migration to the Americas (Davidson, 22).

The first wave of migration was of course the Paleo-Indians. They believed that the Paleo-Indians first traveled across much of present-day Canada and the United States, however some even continued a 2,500 year journey to establish settlements in South America. It is said that the last 40,000 years, when conditions of the world were somewhat more stable, meaning when the world was once a whole continent, which allowed passage overland for the Paleo-Indians to travel on foot from Asia to North America.
