In this study we have explored the topic i.e. “Teaching Children a Second Language at an Early Age” in a detailed manner. The primary focal point of the study was on teaching second language to children at an early age and its related literature and evidence in the literature. Moreover, 120 EFL teachers were investigated for the purpose of concluding the results of the study. The study concludes with the common ground on which the argument can be built.
Introduction
Helena Curtain, the author who wrote an article that read, said that in the 60's, concept of teaching children a second language was very popular and trendy (Curtain). In the year 1968, the Bilingual Act was established in the United States. At first the government gave communities money to help people who do not know how to speak English. That was not enough and more to the point of being bilingual education should not be that one must assimilate to the culture control yourself where you live, but one must help teach the two languages ??function, as well. There are a few ways in which children can learn a language early, having bilingual parents, going to a school where they teach in another language, or be as an exchange student. The difficulty in obtaining adequate information about language development children home to cultural diversity creates problems for early childhood educators and parents. Many parents ask if the language spoken at home affect the development fitness of their children to speak English. Educators do not usually have access to reliable information based on the study when they attempt to guide parents (Dumas, p. 75). As the Parents may think their children are harmed by using two languages ??at home, these Educators may advise you to discontinue one of the two. However, that is not generally good advice. Research shows that children have an innate aptitude tender to learn languages ??and exposure to two languages ??at home does not affect development language. In fact, exposure to two languages ??early in life appears to appear social and academic benefits in the future. However, in the United States on bilingualism unduly often associated with negative consequences and that can affect the advice given to parents. It has been observed that many cases of child second language learners' referrals to special services have been interpreted as a symptom of derangement what is actually the normal process of second language development (Robinson, p. 235).
Counter Argument to Accommodate
The great thing related to bilingual education is that finely analyzed by Stam (2006) the young child is able to hear and reproduce the same sounds in other languages ??unknown to her mother tongue and that he will be able at the age of ten years (p. 162). The child who learns a foreign language early will have no accent.
It should be noted also that you enter more easily in a foreign language when you are confident and very small and that one is not inhibited by the fear of interference from its social image or affected by a delicate ...
