CHAPTER 01: INTRODUCTION
Background
The improvement in the performance of individuals has been an issue for utmost importance for any organisation. There have been various researches in the context of Human performance technology and its association (Mukhopadhyay 2007 1645). Complete knowledge of the current studies is of immense significance as it can be applied to motivate the employees for performance and motivation at any level by automation of systems and getting the invisible performance system where opportunity for every individual to perform and grow is equal.
Aims and Objectives
The objective of this research is to find out the new researches, eruditions and studies in the context of Human Performance Technology and how could the learning from those studies be incorporated in the system of an organisation.
Research Questions
The research aims at answering the following research questions:
What are the implications of the new researches in the Human Performance Technology?
How can the Human Performance Technology be incorporated in the organisation?
How would the implication of researches in Human Performance Technology serve in the achievement of organisational goals?
How can the Human Performance Technology impact over the performance of the individuals and their motivations levels?
Significance
Improving human performance in an organisation is a worthwhile effort to accomplish. The actions to improve the performance of individuals and the organisation does not lead only to improve productivity, can also lead to an increase in satisfaction levels to work, an improvement in the quality of life of workers, reduce stress, formation of new social networks, greater retention and application of knowledge, and numerous other benefits that impact on individuals within an organisation, as well as organisation itself and society in general. (Georgantzas 2003 161)
Ethical Considerations
One profound moral issue that action researchers, like other scientists, cannot evade is the use they make of knowledge that has been generated during inquiry and the researcher is completely aware of it. For this fundamental ethical reason, the premises of any study—but particularly those of action research—must be transparent. Moreover, they must attend to a wider range of questions regarding intent and purpose than simply those of validity and reliability. These questions might include considerations such as the following:
Why was this topic chosen?
How and by whom was the research funded?
To what extent does the topic dictate or align with methodology?
Are issues of access and ethics clear?
From what foundations are the definitions of science and truth derived?
How are issues of representation, validity, bias, ...
