Introduction

The Thirty Years War from 1618 to 1648 was as a result of conflict over the domination in Germany and Europe and is known as a religious war. In it conflicts erupted between both the Catholic League and the Protestant Union within the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg-French opposition to the European level, together with their allies in the empire carried the Hapsburg powers, Austria and Spain their dynastic interest's conflict with France, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden (Langer, 1980).
