In Twelve Angry Men, the young man is on trial for stabbing and killing his father. The film is dedicated to twelve randomly selected citizens, who are assigned the duty to determine the fate of this 19-year-old man. The jury must consider some facts and the truth based solely on the evidence presented to them in court. It is assumed that the jurors will judge fairly and without personal bias. In fact, the jury must use critical thinking during this process, to understand what evidence and actual proof that this is a lie. Leadership
Juror eight had stayed very open-minded. He placed himself in the shoes of the boy, trying to think the way the boy would have had at the moment of the murder. He also listened to the point of views of the other jury members without resenting them for their opinions. Staying calm and showing such a dedication helped him change the minds of the other jury members. Juror eight came into the jury trying making these decisions and doing so by being fair. As the jury, they had to listen to opening statements and closing arguments from two sides. They then were required to learn about and consider the evidence that had been collected for the trial. There soul purpose of being there was to make a decision about the case after they had talked it over with the other jurors during deliberations. During the trial, the judge served as the court's presiding officer and as the final authority for the law. The lawyers acted as advocates for each sides of the case. In the movie the lawyer of the boy didn't seem to care much about the case because like juror eight said, he wasn't getting anything out of it so there was no point for him to make a strong argument. As the jury, they were responsible for impartially evaluating the facts presented and for applying the law to these facts as the judge instructed them. These combined efforts bring about the fair and impartial administration of justice in the courtroom.(Lanham, 2003) Participation
Throughout the film, some of the jurors were more critical thinking than others, some of them to overcome obstacles before they could use good critical thinking skills, while others have become critical thinkers at different times throughout the film. (Ellsworth, 2003)
Climate
The climate of the room is hot and stuffy which is contributing to the stifling situation that these 12 men have found themselves in. The air conditioning in the room is not working which results in rising of the temperature, indicative of the rising heat of the situation. One juror simply wants to leave quickly so that he can play a game of ball. No one wants to stay in the room for long, thus a quick solution is to convict the young man.
Conflict
