RFID Technology in the Hospitality Management Industry
Introduction
Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is a wireless non contact system that uses the technology of magnetic fields of radiofrequency in order to transfer the data from a tag object. This is used automated mode of identification and tracking. There are variations in the tags as some required battery for the activation purpose while others can be only operated through specified magnetic fields. The tags are equipped with electronically stored information that can be read from a valuable distance. Furthermore, the tags are different from the bar codes, because the tags are not available for the readers to check as they are embedded in the tracked object.
Radio-frequency identification (RFID) equipped tags are used in many industries. For instance, an RFID tag is attached to the automobile during the assembly line can track the progress of the object. Different pharmaceuticals industries utilize this technology for tracking the stock in their warehouses. Similarly, RFID tags are also injected to the pets and animals for their identification and research purposes.
Besides all of this, RFID tags can be attached clothes, property, or even implanted within human beings. On the other hand, with respect to the human tagging, the possibility of exposing and using personal information can raise the privacy concerns.
