Introduction

This paper examines survey data conducted on the population of the American Intellectual Union (AIU). The data concerns job satisfaction and contains several variables, two of which will be examined.

Chosen Variables

The qualitative variable being analyzed in this study is gender. Given the importance of gender diversity in promoting equality, efficiency and economic growth, gender diversity is a very important topic in any discussion of job performance (Seguino, 2000). This is a binary variable, and we have coded this variable as 1 represents male and 2 represents female respondent. The quantitative variable being analyzed is extrinsic job satisfaction, meaning the level of satisfaction with characteristics external to performing the actual job, such as office location, co-workers, etc. This is measured on a scale of 1 to 7, where 1 indicating the lowest satisfaction and 7 indicating the highest satisfaction.
