Introduction

The Youth Action Program aims to respond to the various issues being faced by the youth and disadvantaged people. It is a multi-lateral youth exchange being held in the United Kingdom. The promoters of this event are from Bulgaria, France, and Lithuania. Each country will send 8 young people and 2 leaders to participate in this program. This ensures that there was equal representative due to which the program would be more efficient.

This program is aimed at providing important contributions to support the participants in various ways by providing them opportunities for informal and formal learning in a different learning environment. Youth work is one of the best ways to develop the youth. This development process does not take much time and efforts, but the results can be positive with the results consistently visible till the future. It also works as an important means of reinforcing various values made compulsory by the European Union.

The program will take place from the 16th -27th of July 2013 and will be based in the ARC common room in Stockport College. Accommodation will be provided in an outdoor education centre in the Lake District and in Manchester. The first week of the program will consist of workshops based on alcohol safety, drug awareness, and sexual health. These activities will be conducted with the participants working in groups in order to build a bond between them which will result in a development of cultural awareness. The next week will involve skill-sharing, peer-led activities, dance workshop, talent showcase, intercultural evenings, sport activities, and cultural visits. In this program, it will be the responsibility of the coordinator to manage the participants and the activities with the college providing support as a facilitator.

The program is built upon experiences gained from previous programs and the assistance provided by consultants from around the world helped deepen the understanding and learning. In order to plan the program, the students were brought together. The discussions were based on past programs and the outcomes of the program. The plan promotes active European citizenship and fosters a learning of diverse cultures within the EU by integration of countries with different political and cultural histories e.g. Lithuania & Bulgaria are from former Eastern Europe and thus share a wealthy tradition of communism and revolution and the participants from France and the United Kingdom share the understanding of coming from areas, and environment of cities with high figures of ethnic minorities and relative poverty.

Important Measures

In order to ensure that the participants are provided safety and protection, risk assessments would be carried out in order to ensure that they follow all the policies of the organization with respect to the health and safety guidelines.
