Introduction

Leadership is a process that involves socially influencing the group of individuals. The idea is to assist the members in a particular group accomplish their tasks. It involves properly organizing the people so that they can be directed towards their goals. A leader may have a formal authority and may also have an informal influence on the team members. A leader has various traits that make him rank above those who are following him. Leadership is an art of leading men and directing them towards a desired goal. Peter Ducker was quoted as saying that management is all about doing things the right way and that leadership is doing those things that are right, (Ducker, 1973). He also stated that leaders who claim to be great have a social dazzling intelligence and are always welcoming change. Such leaders have vision that helps them lay their sight on the things that they want to achieve. Leadership is the ability to manage people & get the work done by them in a way that everyone feels empowered & apply their efforts to achieve set goals, (Fry, 2003). Leadership possesses the idea that people have some skills & abilities to manage things better than other people. Sometimes it is natural & many times it is nurtured by environment. Leader is somehow a mentor of his/her followers; he/she must also display efforts and observe things around (Adair, 1997).

Business organizations, that is there to make profits, train and spend a lot on their managers and leaders, (Daft,2008). The purpose for this is to ensure that the leaders can get the best out of their team members and drive them through motivation and other factors into achieving their targets. Our paper will not focus on the leadership aspects and how leadership is benefitting the organizations. We will be, however, focusing on the worst leadership experience that I went through.

Discussion

I use to work at a bank as the head of sales. I used to deal in selling insurance. My department was Bancassurance. I had a team of ten salesmen and I was given the charge of the south. It was back in 2009, and I along with my teammates was given the task of selling as many insurance policies to the bank clients, as possible. Before that, I use to work for an insurance company, selling insurance as a salesman. I worked as a salesman for ten years. At the bank I was enjoying my new post. However, the post was challenging to. I had to handle the team of ten that was comprised of people hailing from different ethnic background. It was a good opportunity for us to prove our worth in the market and gain as many benefits as possible.

In the first quarter, we were given a target of selling at least five million dollars worth insurance policies to our bank clients. I used to hold weekly meetings with my group members and discuss about the cases they were ...
