Introduction

Mormonism is among those relgion that have grown on very fast pace, and therefore this religion is bound to be challenged. This paper focuses on the summary and critique of Mormonism, as well as presents the tips to witnessing those who believes in Mormonism; the means by which Christian apologetic can be used in conversion with those who hold to the Mormon faith.



Summary of Mormonism

In stating a least, it can be said that the history of Marmonism is interesting. This religion was begin when Joseph Smith (1805-1844) introduced a movement, where, he was a guilty criminal who was seeking a treasure and with the help of his father hide that treasure by by means of divining bars, talismans, and adoptions of custom magic. Smith allegedly accredited his foremost revelation while he was just fourteen and God came out in front of him to inform him that all the churches of Christians were an outrage in His vision and all those are fraudulent who acknowledge these religions. Smith claimed that when he was sixteen years old (in the year 1822) the angel named Moroni appeared to him for telling him regarding the cache of gold tablets which were deep buried near his home. When Smith became 22 years old (in the year 1830) he published a translation of those tablets that become famous as the 'Book of Mormon'.The book was named by Smith for his father, Mormon, and Smith alongside with his father affirmed that they were the mere survivors of 2 significant inhabitants from the pre-colonized America called the Nephites and Lamanites. Where, these humans were descendents of Lehi and eventually his son Nephi. The son had fled Jerusalem in 600B.C. by sea and later on settled in Central America. The writing of Mormon claim that Christ visited the United States of America, revealed Himself to the descendents of Nephi, preached to them gospel, and established baptism as well as Communism, or “the sacrament” as called by the Latter-day Saints. Movements of Smith became progressive in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and eventually in Illinois where Smith got arrested and murdered by an angry mob. Eventually after Smith's death, several splits among his followers were seen, where most of those followers declared Brigham Young as their fresh director. Consequently, Young began guiding the cluster of followers towards their presented headquarters that are in the city of Salt Lake, Utah.

At nearly every stage, the beliefs of Mormonism conflict with Christian orthodoxy. But, in short, the most primary differences may be seen in their perception of God. As per the Mormons' teachings, God was previously a man and eventually became the God of world; Smith sermonized an oration, “How God Came to Be God” in Nauvoo, Illinois on 9th March, 1844.
