Introduction & History

In 1823, William Webb Ellis was the first person who originated the concept of Rugby sports when he for the very first time hold the ball in his arms and ran. He had high disregards for the rules of football. This particular move brought out Rugby which is now played as an International sport. Thus, the act of Webb-Ellis was the step towards the invention of Rugby. In the early days. Rugby was considered a game just like football. During 1823, the players were allowed to hold the ball and play. Running was not permitted at that time. There was no set numbers for the players to play from each side. No rules were set at that time. However, the concept of running with the ball was introduced in 1830. By 1845, the rules were set and finalized for the very first time, and the game was accepted with all the rules and legalities in many countries (Rupp 2011, n.d).

First Rugby World Cup

In 1979, the first idea for organizing the Rugby World Cup was proposed and in 1983, Australian & New Zealand Rugby union give the proposal for an international board for Rugby football. IRFB stands for International Rugby Football Board was established to cater all the issues, formation of new rules and game techniques issue. The First Rugby World Cup was arranged in New Zealand in 1987, and the co host along with Zealand was Australia. More than 600,000 people came to saw the tournament, and that's how the World Cup history for Rugby football originated. Now, The Rugby World Cup is the third biggest organized game after the Olympics & FIFA world cup (Rupp 2011, n.d).

International Rugby Board

IBR, International World Rugby Board is the owner and governing body of ruby game across the globe. IRB has established its subsidiary to arrange and mange the games and different tournaments. Currently the chairman of IRB is Bernard Lapasset. There is many director working under him in different subsidiaries governing the games and tournaments as per scheduled.

A Glimpse of Rugby World Cup 2011

The 2011 World Cup of Rugby was the official seventh world Cup in the history of Rugby sports. In 2005, a meeting was held in Dublin where New Zealand was selected as the host team and was given preference over Japan and South Africa. This Rugby world Cup was the largest event ever organized in New Zealand up till now. Visitors from across the globe came to see this exciting event and the amount was more than expected. The duration of this event was six weeks, which comprise of the whole event from the inauguration ceremony to the finals. A total of 20 teams participated in this World cup. The Rugby football board of New Zealand selected 13 different venues for the world cup events to occur.
