Introduction

Religion, may it be any, is an aspect that all human beings are bounded under and have been following one or the other religion in major eras from history. People have remained conscious and wondered about finding the real meaning to life and make the best out of it. For the people, a proper religious system is necessary in order to guide them to the right path and follow the principles religiously. The following paper discusses in detail world's religions and how they have been followed in the major areas of influence and consists of discussions about the religions of Africa, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism, and Sikhism, religion in China, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

The African Religion

African population is regarded to be rich in religious aspects. Mitochondrial DNA studies have proven that human beings in Africa are the descendants of a small population coming from the era of 60,000 years ago. Africa has been regarded as the root of the first ever written texts written on religious and documentation of monotheistic religions. Many manuscripts have been preserved in the libraries of Africa since ancient times and have been stored at Ethiopia and Timbuktu. The texts available in the documents may consist racist controversies, interpretational errors or even mistakes in interpretation of the traditional cultural aspects. But, this must be understood that Africa is a home of religious traditions and has been regarded as rich in cultural aspects since the old times.

Africa is a country rich in religion and there are various societies in Africa that have their distinct religious systems and they maintain their own practices, beliefs and customs. Religion generally permeates into all the aspects of life; therefore it cannot be kept isolated. According to Professor Mbiti, all the traditional and the contemporary African societies even in the presence of race and language differences are deeply religious. Considering the centrality of the beliefs and practices of religion practiced in Africa, the study about the religion in Africa can help in developing an understanding of the societies and events in the continent.

Studies show that Africa has remained a home to many religious traditions, customs and beliefs. It is the home of great religious including Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism. The majority of the Africans in the continent identify themselves from these three religions. West Africa is one of the most interesting places on the planet because of its diversified population and various cultures that have been existing in the African societies. West Africa has remained under various religious influences and this is the reason the region has suffered from many wars and conflicts among different groups of people belonging to different ethnicities. The common group of Africa consists of the blacks that have come from the region of Sub-Sahara. They make up most of the population.
