In terms of the psychological well being of a worker, high levels of stress can lead to job dissatisfaction, mood swings, fatigue and depression. The most severe psychological effect of continual stress is burnout. This is characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment.

It is easy for management to identify workers who are suffering from burnout, and critical that they amend the problem immediately, if they want to maintain productive workers. Although it is easy to identify burnout - it is much more difficult, but equally important to identify and assist workers in coping with increased stress levels so that they don't 'burnout'.

For managers Stress is a basic constituent of being alive. Although Managers generally aide it with an obnoxious happening, any position, which trial the workforce, or engages risk, or necessitates change and change in inhabits, is possibly stressful.
