Introduction

Since the last few decades, the world is going through the rise of technological achievements in computing area. These technological advancements have changed the way the businesses are being conducted. Message slips have been replaced by voice mails, memos have been replaced by electronic mails and filing cabinets have been replaced by the advanced and hi-tech computers (Wulffson, n.d.). However, the indispensible technology of internet has facilitated the people with the access to unlimited information virtually. The designers in the business organizations are using internet for downloading ever emerging and advanced software for providing better and improved designs to the business (Wulffson, n.d.). Thus, the advent of these new and emerging technologies is introducing many concerns and liabilities for the employers and designers that are working for the progress of the organization. This report is based on the problems that the workplace faces due to the use of internet and it also includes the steps that must be taken in order to increase the advantages from these technologies while decreasing the liability.

There are many challenges that the workplace is facing because of the internet access in the organization. The basic problem of internet access in the office is the wastage of time (Wulffson, n.d.). Because employees spend their precious time in conversing with friends, surfing the web and playing games. Consistently monitoring the employee's activities have become another difficult problem. Besides the problem of lost time, the specific activities of the employees can produce many legal responsibilities for employers (Wulffson, n.d.). The means of electronic mail is being used for many discrimination and sexual harassment claims. According to the research, it has been observed that emails are being used as the most destroying documentary evidence in discrimination and harassment claims. Downloaded material or the material that has been viewed over the internet creates another concern.

When the designers download different software from the internet, almost all of the software are connected with insecure web sites as a result of which destructive viruses are downloaded on the network or computers of the company (Wulffson, n.d.). These viruses allow the outsiders to acquire the sensitive and confidential information of the company. Consequently, it might lead to legal responsibility if the organization is blamed for permitting their sensitive information to be released. Downloading of the internet and dissemination of the company's information might also lead to claims of copyright and trademark infringement (Wulffson, n.d.).

Discussion

The problem of downloading has become the major concern at the workplace because different and new software are always required to download from the internet in order to provide efficient and high quality design for improving the performance of the firm (Wulffson, n.d.). This downloading brings viruses with the downloaded files due to which computer begins to malfunction and the sensitive information of the company becomes in danger.
