Introduction

There are various ethical dilemmas that are faced by employees in the workplace and this is mainly due to the increased complexity in the business environment. Every single individual have his or her own personal ethics and moral imperatives that force him or her to work or act in a specific way. Employees are found using the resources of the organization for their personal use that is un-ethical and it needs to be stopped as it increases the costs of the organization. Handling workplace ethical dilemmas is not any simple task as it requires extensive knowledge that would help in analyzing the aspects of the ethics.

Ethics is a branch of psychology that helps in analyzing the queries related to an individual's values and morality. Most of the ethical dilemmas are faced in those situations in which an individual has to select among good and bad or right and wrong. There are various organizations that are found focusing on increasing their profitability with no concern to the health or well being of the society or customers. The legal authorities should keep close check over the business activities of these organizations as these activities can severely harm the well being of the society.

There are organizations that have included the ethical terms such as loyalty, honesty, trust etc. as their values but in reality nothing like that is observed in its workplace and these organizations are not found beneficial for the environment as well. If the managers of the organizations are not faithful or loyal towards the business activities or if they are not having equality among the employees of the organization in these cases they are creating workplace ethical dilemmas that can harm the environment of the organization.

Discussion

Employees within an organization can develop hatred and lack of commitment towards their jobs if their managers are not found having equality among all the employees. They can lose the motivation level and their performance will also decline gradually. For managing all these issues the managers need to have fair terms and conditions for all of the employees otherwise the employees would not be able to work in a team. Employees can only work in a team effectively if they are all given equal space and benefits on accomplishing the organizational tasks or activity (Vardaman, 2012).

The performance appraisal management system of the organization can also create workplace ethical dilemma like if the all the employees in the similar rank or grade are not appraised according to the set standards. In these cases employees are found getting involved in un-ethical activities to fulfill their un-filled needs and wants. It is the responsibility of the managers to be fair with all the employees and keep close check over the progress of the employees so that any mishap or illegal activity can be traced.
