Introduction

Understanding the context of the groups and teams in the organization are one of the most important concepts in the modern corporate world. There are many groups that are formed within the organization and all of them are not formed on the formal basis. Similarly, there are many concepts within the dynamics of the organization that play a very important role in the setting and the success of the organization. Some of them are the way power is distributed in the organization, how conflicts are handled and resolved at the first place. The ability of the organization to come up with the differences and create a common negotiating ground is also very important. So in research we will be discussing these concepts and how they prevail in the different organization.

Types of Groups in the Organization

Inside the organizations, there are many groups which are formed at the different levels. They might be described in many ways, but some of the common groups are formal groups, informal groups, primary groups and the secondary groups (Tekleab et al, 2009, p.170). Some are formed by default, while some are etched out due to circumstances. We will be discussing them below:

Formal Groups

This sort of group is formed within an organization to go through a specified role or action. This might include a project launching team of the particular service or product.

Informal Groups

They are established in the organization when the employs who feel they can interact with each other freely, and they have a belief that there is a cause that need their integration which the formal groups cannot do so (Tekleab et al, 2009, p.170).

Primary Groups

It is a small group that can get together on the regular basis and have a regular interaction. Team leader that exists inside a small team is an example of primary group. The values, culture and the set of common beliefs should be there in the primary group.

Secondary Group

When there are a large number of people getting together, and they do not normally interact within the organization, they are termed as secondary groups. People might not know each other too well in the setting of the secondary group as compared to the primary group. When it is formed, people have their own purpose and aims for forming those (Tekleab et al, 2009, p.170). The relationship is for the benefits and does not have to be long term.

Key Factors Regarding Group Behavior

Security

When individuals join a group, they can ward off the insecurity that they are alone in their grievances. They feel strength, their self doubts are diminished. They are also more prone to threats when they are part of a group (Tekleab et al, 2009, p.205).

Status

When the group gains prestige and strength within an organization, it provides its members with recognition and some right to negotiate about their rights (Tekleab et al, 2009, p.205).
