The position attained by women now days was not without a great struggle and a difficult past. Their contributions in the field of medicine have been quite evident. Merit Ptah an Egyptian woman was the first one to enter the field of medicine and was also given the title of “chief physician”.Agemede was another woman in Greece who was considered to be a good healer (Borst et.al, 2005).
