U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and U.S Navy are three different armed forces that are designated under the U.S. Department of Defense. As far as the U.S. Marines are concerned they are the subdivision of Navy. All these branches of armed forces are consistently performing significant security roles. In this essay it will be elaborated that how the U.S. Marine is better and different from U.S. Army in terms of mission, goals, trainings, achievements and acceptance by some well known leaders.
As far as the missions and goals of the U.S. Army and Marines are concerned, there is a difference between both. Generally both of these armed forces are considered as same but they are not simply the same. The U.S. Marines are incredibly mobile force, having high power weapons, and with great tactical skills. They are specially prepared to launch the attack from water and to setup a beach head that serves as a control region on foreign region or territory. The U.S Army troops than moves in to maintain the control, after the Marines have captured the territory. In other words Marines are serving as the front line tactical force in such areas. Apart from capability to attack from oceans, the Marines also have the potential to take land territory. Marines are specially trained to deploy quickly, and generally are the primary U.S. force on war site. The U.S. Marines also serves as protectors to the U.S. embassies in the foreign countries where they are responsible for the protection and safety of the embassy personnel and it is quiet important to mention that it is the most risky job in volatile areas to guard the U.S. embassies (Martinez, 2007).
As a matter of fact U.S. Army is only responsible for land-based operations. It is the largest as well as the oldest division of U.S. military, as it was established on June 14, 1784. The key mission of the Army is to support the U.S. defense strategies and National Security. The controls and operations of the U.S. Army are headed by the Department of Army and over a million soldiers are serving under the Army.
