The benefits of sports at school are unlimited. It enables to expend the physical energy of the child, and interact with other comrades and share moments of pleasure with them, finding balance, gain confidence and trust. As we have seen the benefits of sport are manifold. First, it helps to support healthy and balanced growth in boys and girls, with significant benefits from a physically and psychologically. But for this healthy growth the sport must be practiced correctly, considering the physical characteristics of the children their age and abilities. Also improve physical performance and facilitate their socialization with other children, stimulating their development (Pate, 904-908).
The extracurricular sporting activity is appropriate to make the decision whether girl or boy. As soon as you are able to express their preferences, it is good practice to leave the choice of the activity you want. We should never impose our own desires or longings. Consultation with professionals of the sport that will advise on what sports are complementary and beneficial for your son / daughter. In case the child seems to be always tired / herself or if she complains of pains, interrumpid training for a week in order to rest. Remember that sport for the child should be, above all, a pleasure and not a constant challenge. Also, think overexertion or unsuited to the age of growth, can be harmful to the child.
It is important that the sport practiced by the Child is complete and allows for a harmonious development of the musculature. Any intense activity will be harmful to him or her and that certain muscle groups at risk of being requested more than others. And this situation will create an imbalance in the development of the growing child. Something very important is that extracurricular sports activities must be fun and enjoyable.
Discussion
It is a well known fact that sport as a physical education area, contributes, along with the contents of the other areas, to achieve the overall objectives of the stage appearing in Decree 148/2002, of May 14, which amending Decree 106/1992, of June 9, which established the teachings relating to compulsory secondary education in America.
In this Decree, and the share of PE area we read that "The Game and Sport are the most common ways of understanding physical activity in our society. The sport, however, as is socially appreciated identifies with competitive approaches, selective and restricted to a single specialty, which are not always compatible with the educational intentions of the curriculum. Purchase educational value, the sport has to have an open, focused on improving motor skills , communication, socialization, etc. For this participation should not depend on sex characteristics, skill levels and other grounds of discrimination (Harrison, & Narayan et.al, 113-120).
