It is the basic right of civilians in a country that they can express their public choice by choosing their favourite public or political personality who have stood up for the presidential or for any other candidate position. Wilson (2003) in his research explained the economics of voter turnout with the rational choice theory. He explained that why it always happen that voters instead of casting their votes just sit back in their houses and wait for their favourite candidate to win. Thus candidates step out express their like or dislike through giving their single vote to the individual they feel is most eligible for the position. In recent time economic rationale theory have enabled the citizens of America to cast their votes in every election and this is the reason why now large amounts of people understand the importance of their single vote and therefore vote to make the best decision for his or her country.
Discussion
According to Stoddard (2007) many democratic countries have provided their citizens the facility of expressing their views at the day of voting unlike many other countries where it is mandatory for citizens to cast their votes. Since voting is not compulsory in UK, USA and many other countries therefore it helps in finding out the reasons or the factors that influence the decision of a voter to cast his single vote on the voting day. The researchers found that there are five factors that initially have an effect on the voters and on his decision. The first factor is the personal background of the voters, second factor is the amount of loyalty of the voter towards a political party, third factor is the issues raised during the political campaign, fourth factor is the image of the candidates in the public and the last factor that has an impact is the propaganda against different candidates. Thus on the basis of these factors it can be analysed that why does a voter take out time in order to cast his or her vote on the election days.
Bryns discussed that people make their public choice through one way that is to cast his or her vote so that he can chose a political party that could serve in the wellbeing of his or her country. He discussed that there are two kinds of people one who do not have any interest in voting activity and on the other hand are the voters who especially vote. He then analysed that what is the reason that people vote when there are many people who do not vote. He found out that many people vote because they resemble voting with the spectators of any game. Like spectators by the ticket to watch and cheer for their favourite team similarly people vote in order to show support to their favourite candidate who is fighting with many rivals in the battle field. Many people feel that democracy have given them the right to express ...
